Frankfort, KY - At Franklin County Schools, our teachers make a difference every day, inspiring and guiding our students towards a brighter future. Today, we want to give a big round of applause to one of our amazing Art teachers from Early Learning Village (ELV), Whitley Bardroff!
Did you know that earthworms have five hearts? 🪱 It's true, BUT we are determined that they still cannot love as much as our teachers do.
Thanks to Ms. Bardroff's dedication and hard work, we received a grant from Capital Area Master Gardeners to establish a worm composter. Capital Area Master Gardeners are a group of horticulture enthusiasts from central Kentucky who provide up-to-date and reliable information on gardening practices to the community
This worm composting initiative builds on our successful project from last year, also funded by the same grant: our indoor growing system. Last year, we transformed an old trophy case into a thriving indoor growing environment for various vegetables and flowers. With the addition of the worm composter this year, we will create our own compost to nourish our plants, ensuring the sustainability of these projects well into the future.
Our community is incredibly proud of these accomplishments, and we are grateful for the support that allows us to continue enhancing our educational environment. The State Journal featured an article on this amazing achievement, which you can read here.
